Beijing native, though boosts a family root in the heavenly Yunnan province which she brags to selected people. With a profound understanding of Chinese classics and philosophy, she follows her free spirit while occasionally refer to I Ching for guidance.
An independent filmmaker since her senior high school years, she now actively participates in all practices of art.
Her ad and promotion video works appear on major television channels and—NOT that she cares. She enjoys working in theaters and has worked as documentary director on productions of Chinese theater master Mr. Lin Zhaohua. She also exhibits her interactive installations in Beijing.
Now Umi is working full time as assistant director on a Chinese war epic film due to release next year.
